Nick Hall

I’m a professor at the University of Toulouse. Most of my teaching is in ocean wave dynamics and geophysical fluid dynamics.  You can watch my lectures on my YouTube channel here.  My research is in large scale atmosphere-ocean dynamics, with a focus on atmospheric teleconnections, tropical-extratropical interactions  and the atmospheric response to sea surface temperature anomalies. I have also worked on atmospheric waves and stability and I’m  currently interested in coupling condensation heating with the tropical circulation.  Much of my research is carried out with a dynamical model of intermediate complexity with forcing derived from data.  It is called DREAM – web site here.

Serena Illig

I am an IRD researcher at the Laboratoire d’Etudes en Géophysique et Océanographie Spatiale (LEGOS UMR – IRD, CNRS, CNES & Université Paul Sabatier) in Toulouse (France). I am presently working in the Oceanographic department at University of Cape Town (UCT).

My research focuses on the phenology of the Eastern Boundary Upwelling Systems (EBUS) of the southern hemisphere, along the coasts of Peru and Chile in the Humboldt Current System, and along the coasts of Angola and Namibia in the northern Benguela Upwelling System. I am specialized on the connexion with the linear equatorial dynamics, and on the air-sea interactions at regional and basin scales.

I use a methodology inspired from my previous studies, based on an inter-comparative analysis of observations (in situ and satellite), and a combination of simple (linear) and complex (high resolution regional coupled models) models.

Fabrice Hernandez

Chercheur IRD, actuellement en affectation au Brésil.

Je suis dans l’altimétrie et la mésoéchelle océanique depuis 1989. Un début de carrière à batir des outils d’estimation à CLS. En 2004 recruté au LEGOS pour rejoindre officiellement l’aventure Mercator. Impliqué dans PIRATA, aujourd’hui à étudier l’Atlantique Tropical au Brésil en préparant SWOT.
