Monitoring of long term sea level trend

At the global scale, the mean sea elevation is about 1 to 2 mm/year. This estimation is based on the last century tide gauge analysis. With the global warming by greenhouse effect, we can estimate a mean sea level elevation of 50 cm during the following century. If we would like to detect this trend on 10 years with 10% of error, we are aimed at measuring a global elevation of 5 cm with an error of 5 mm. So as to validate this variation, we need high quality recording of independent tide gauges. Thus, the GLOSS/WOCE program was created to peform this scientific needing. The four tide gauges of ROSAME are part of the global GLOSS network.
