Spatial and temporal internal wave variability in global simulations

Résumé :

I will present results on the spatial and temporal variability in propagation and dissipation of internal tides and near-inertial waves in global HYCOM simulations. I will present some topics my group has worked on over the years: the global energy budget of low-mode internal waves; the effect of wavedrag strength and resolution on resolving modes; the nonstationarity of the internal tide; nonlinear energy transfers out of low-mode internal tides; the seasonal variability of the low-mode internal waves.
